Aims and Objectives

IWGDM aims to further the knowledge and promote the appropriate and beneficial use of data and models in urban drainage systems. The main topics covered by the group are:

  • Data in urban drainage (collection, analysis, storage)
  • Development of models of urban drainage and related systems (modelling techniques, calibration, verification, scale issues)
  • Uncertainty in data and models (uncertainty in data collection, total model uncertainty, propagation of uncertainty in models, etc)
  • Integration of models (integration of models of different urban drainage systems, integration of urban drainage models into total water cycle models)

The main objectives of the group are to:

  • Form a platform for collaboration of international experts in the field.
  • Form a platform for knowledge transfer between research and practice.
  • Collect and summarize relevant information on data and models.
  • Identify research needs and motivate/ trigger innovative research projects (e.g. lead in encouraging/facilitating research in emerging topics such as uncertainty within modeling and data collection).
